This is by far the most unique and memorable travel experiences I’ve had! Taking the Caledonian Sleeper train from London to Scotland. Imagine going to bed in bustling London, and waking up the next morning in the serene beauty of the Scottish Highlands or the charming streets of Edinburgh. It felt like something out of a movie!
We knew we wanted a private room for us to sleep in. After months from booking the Caledonian Double room, we realized maybe a little too late that the room was cozy. And by cozy, I mean barely enough space for two humans, two big suitcases, two backpacks, and a whole bunch of random bits and bobs we’d picked up during our trip. HAHA! I can say, I was a tinsy bit worried about that.
We hopped on the train at London Euston, excited but not really sure what to expect.. So here we go~

We managed to push and squeeze our suitcases to the room.

It was tight, for sure, but also kind of hilarious and oddly charming. There’s something unforgettable about trying to Tetris our belongings in a room the size of a large closet. Thank goodness we managed to make it work! One of the suitcase slid barely under the bed, and the other stood proudly next to the little basin. It was truly a just-nice fit all around. The bed? Also just-nice for our heights. One of the rare perks of being on the shorter side: I could stretch out fully without having to curl up like a shrimp.

The room came with chocolates, fragrant toiletries and sleeping pack (eye mask and earplugs) for a refreshing night. Also it was great to have a refreshing shower in the ensuite bathroom. Although it’s small, it is comfortable. And the toilet seat is super interesting too.
Before departure, we had to fill out a breakfast order sheet and hang it by the door, so that the train crew can prepare those before our expected breakfast time. This little sheet got me all excited to dine at the breakfast lounge. Once we settled in, and the train gently rocked us to sleep, it was magical.

By morning, we are waking up to the sweeping views of the Scottish countryside. And it is time for breakfast by the window, watching the sunrise as we reach Edinburgh.

If you ever get the chance, definitely give the Caledonian Sleeper a try. It’s more than just a train ride. It’s a little adventure all on its own.
Additional to the train ride, if you are on the Caledonian Double like what we booked, the lounge is accessible for use before departure. It really gives us a place to wait. Appreciated this alot.
