A beautiful country with lotsa nice sightsee-ing and places to fly drone. I have gotten a DJI mini 4 and its a lightweight and easy to use drone. It’s an easy-peasy journey to flying the drone in Scotland!
Moreover, road trips in Scotland are especially interesting, with endless views of mountains, cliffs, and winding roads everywhere. How can I possibly not bring my drone and capture this amazing moment.
So let’s get down to what is required to fly the drone in Scotland. The process is fairly easy and hassle-free! Registration is Required!!
Under the UK drone rules, there are 2 parts to get registered.
Part 1: Operator ID
The Operator (must be 18 years and above) is the person that’s responsible for maintaining and managing a drone or model aircraft. This Operator ID will be valid for 1 year.
Part 2: Flyer ID
The Flyer is the one who will fly the drone safely and legally. The Flyer needs to take the online theory test and passing it to show that they understand how to fly safely and legally. The Flyer ID is valid for five years.
